The new song at the San Francisco show last night was called "Downtown". From memory, not in order, he played: Your Blood European Oils Helena Dark Leaves From A Thread Downtown This Night To The Heart of The Sun The Chosen Few Don't Become The Thing You Hated And one or two others I know I'm missing, but overall I was super pleased. The only complaints it seemed like anyone had from last night were the loud assholes in the front. I'm also going tonight, which is at a more intimate venue. Should be fun. The songs missing from your setlist are "Farrar, Straus, Giroux (Sea of Tears)", "The State", "Blue Flower, Blue Flame", "painter in your pocket", and i think he also played "Certain Things you ought to know" that night

Chicago Set: Helena Painter in yr Pocket Foam Hands Downtown Chosen Few The Temple Beggars Might Ride Self-Portrait w Thing European Oils Freedom Certain Things You Oughta Know No Ceasefires Your Blood Don't Beccome the Thing You Hated ------------------ Fires In the Streets Virgin w a Memory
Great show, ton of energy from the crowd, Bejar was in a great mood, confessed to The Chosen Few being a song about heroin...and that Fires in the Streets has made him very wealthy, heh. Good times!

Here’s the setlist from tonight’s NYC show:
What Road Helena European Oils Destroyer’s The Temple Song for Acuarela Foam Hands Streets of Fire No Cease Fires! (Crimes Against the State of Our Love, Baby) The State Certain Things You Ought To Know The Chosen Few Goddess of Drought Your Blood Self Portrait With Thing (Tonight Is Not Your Night) Painter In Your Pocket [first encore] The Freedom Virgin With A Memory [second encore] Farrar, Straus, and Giroux (Sea of Tears)
Bejar was as talkative as I've every seen him and the crowd listened intently for most of the set. After "Streets of Fire" someone yelled out "New Pornographers," to which he replied, "That song is even older than that, if you can imagine such a thing." Later someone yelled "Signs" and Dan said that he had a Word document on his laptop called "Playable Songs" and that he was sure that "Signs" was not on there. A good show overall.

The Vancouver show was disappointing, mainly because of the venue: the stage was virtually non-existent, so Dan could hardly be seen through the crowd, plus it was really hot with no air conditioning. Dan only played one hour (compared with 1 1/2 hours at the Seattle show) and one encore although the crowd kept calling out for more.

Dan was surprisingly chatty and quite endearing. He said something to the effect of, "I really do believe in the good heart of the American people. I kind of just realized that. And I can't hate my mum... she's an American. I can't hate my grandma either." Aww.

Other notes from the Swedish American Hall over a year ago.
Azita kept referring to him as "Mr. Destroyer," because "he deserves the extra pomp."
On his missing setlist: ". . . so I'm going to try and play some songs I haven't played in awhile. ...but still good, if not in execution."
On being shouted at to play a song "without the mic": "Hey, I sing loud. That's just my style, man."
On forgetting his chords, as stonian mentioned: "This is an old song called 'Queen of Languages.' I'm trying to remember how it's supposed to go... I probably shouldn't even be playing it."
On merch: "That was from a very old album called City of Daughters. It is... NOT for sale after the show. ...neither are any of the other records." It was a welcome change from Azita's constant reminder that we could buy her new album in the back.
