Beside myself! Bought tickets to see Black Mountain's west coast mini-tour in March. I'm closer to Seattle, but chose the Vancouver show (hometown crowd). This was a couple weeks ago... Just found out Destroyer has been added for a solo opening set - only for the Vancouver show! This'll be my 10th time seeing him. Could not be more excited! This makes up for missing the Jansport Bonfire thing in Seattle in 2015 AND for missing out on the charity bundle in December. Wondering if he'll play more new stuff???

Vogue Theatre, Vancouver. 3/10/2017 Good show last night. Tired! It was a relentlessly loud night, relieved only by Destroyer's solo acoustic set between synth / drums combo zZz and awesome headliner Black Mountain. The set placement was a little awkward, I heard comment, but made sense in terms of draw. Boy was the crowd staggering drunk though. Dan came out and started playing with little warning, beginning with new song "Stay Lost". I had gotten close, just behind the front row - the Vogue had a kind of fence in front of the stage, and security guards. I took a few pictures at the beginning. Dan was wearing a sweatshirt instead of the usual button down. Seemingly-recent haircut. Just did the Bowie / Heroes tribute /Glass at 80 show in Chapel Hill last week? Smiled quite a bit during the show, didn't seem remotely nervous. Drinking Beck's and whisky. A very drunk guy in front of me threw several individual cigarettes at / to him, I guess meant as a gift (noticed Dan took them with when he left). Besides "Stay Lost", this was the Vancouver debut of "Sky's Gray" and "Sometimes in the World" (aka "Money") - which I hadn't heard. The new songs are mostly so short and simple, I'm super curious to see what the recordings will be like. Also played "Catwalk", which had people singing along by now despite unreleased status. The Vancouver-specific references always get whoops from the hometown crowd. A spirited "English Music" was a nice surprise, to this end. One day I'd love him to get though "Goddess of Drought" without psyching himself out on the last few notes. A highlight for me was "What Road", as always. Notably absent chestnuts from the Destroyer's Greatest Hits songbook were "European Oils" and "Streets of Fire" - I applaud varying the routine.
Set list: Stay lost Times Square English Music Goddess of Drought A Light Travels Down the Catwalk Watercolours into the Ocean Sky's Gray The River Chinatown Sometimes in the World (Money) Foam Hands What Road Don't Become the Thing You Hated

Looks like the new album is materializing. The full band will be touring Europe this fall with dates in November and December. Found this Spanish article listing four dates in November. Also, Songkick has three dates in Germany and another three dates in France. Hopefully, they'll also be travelling through North America. Fingers crossed!

Album in November according to Muzikalia, but no exact date. I'm expecting an announcement any day now... Interesting he's touring with the band. I was gathering he may be doing a very solitary basement-revisited project, a la "Ram" or Martin Newell. Any day now!

Lyrics from "Sky's Gray". Can't wait to hear what he's done with it. So good live, big audience response both times I've witnessed this thing. Smashing that 'like' button!
